Cambus Medical Announces Creation of over 60 New Jobs

Cambus Medical announced today the creation of over 60 new jobs at their medical device company in Spiddal, Co Galway bringing the total workforce to over 85 people. The jobs will be created over a three year period as the company scales up operations into volume supply to their customers. Of the 25 people currently employed at Cambus Medical, over half are third-level graduates with several years of experience within the industry.
To house the new recruits and increased capacity, the company recently completed a major expansion of its manufacturing facility in the Baile an tSagairt Industrial Estate which will triple the firm’s production capacity whilst providing a dedicated 4,000 sq ft space to support R&D and new product introduction.
Cambus Medical provides advanced catheter component solutions to manufacturers of minimally invasive surgical devices, such as balloon angioplasty catheters and stent delivery systems. With customers in over 20 countries, the company was founded by Barry Comerford and John Farragher in late 2006.
Barry Comerford, Managing Director comments, “To enable Cambus Medical to compete within the global marketplace, our entire focus to date has centred on creating advanced process technologies and a management and engineering infrastructure which can support rapid growth of our business while providing our customers with the very highest levels of customer service and technical support”.

In May of this year, the company successfully completed a €500k investment round with the AIB Seed Capital Fund which is managed by Enterprise Equity.
